    92x Service Fuser Error -

    Please note that all printer parts must be bought through the school budget process. OIIT on-site support will not be able to resolve a fuser error until proper parts are installed in the printer.


    Fuser error codes information:

    • A 920 Fuser Error message indicates that the fuser unit in the printer is below the proper temperature for printing.
    • 921 Fuser Error and 922 Fuser Error messages indicate that the fuser unit failed to reach the standby temperature.
      • If this is the first time you have seen the error, turn the printer off and on. Leave the printer off for at least 10 seconds before turning it back on. This gives the printer's engine board a chance to reset.
      • If this is an intermittent error, you may want to check how the printer is plugged in, even if it has worked on this surge device for months. Make sure the printer is plugged straight to the wall and not through a surge device or power strip. Power strips and uninterrupted power supplies can cause a low amperage problem in your printer which can trigger a false fuser error.
      • If this does not help or if this error appears every time the printer is powered on, you will probably need service on the machine.
    • A 923 Fuser Error indicates that the fuser unit is getting too hot while printing or when the printer is idle. Make sure that nothing is stuck inside the fuser unit that can cause the fuser unit to overheat. To check for any stuck sheets of paper in the fuser unit:
        1. Locate the rear door and open it. The rear door opens and drops down towards you.
        2. Look into the back of the printer. See if there is any paper or any other item stuck there that could be causing the fuser unit to overheat.
        3. If you cannot find anything jammed up or broken in the back of the printer, open the upper front cover of the printer and remove the toner cartridge. Look into the printer from the front. See if you can see anything jammed into the back area of the printer.
          If nothing appears to be jammed in the printer, the fuser unit or the main power supply of the printer will probably need to be replaced to fix this problem.
    • A 924 Fuser Error indicates that an open circuit has been detected in the fuser thermistor circuit.
        1. If this is the first time you have seen the error, turn the printer off and on.
        2. Leave the printer off for at least 10 seconds before turning it back on. This gives the printer's engine board a chance to reset.
        3. If this does not clear up the fuser error, the problem may be in one of the following:
          • the fuser cover assembly
          • the engine board
          • the DC fuser cable
          • the fuser control board

    These parts need to be checked out by a service technician and replaced as necessary.

    • A 925 Fuser Error indicates that the wrong fuser lamp or the incorrect fuser assembly is installed.
      1. If this error appears shortly after the fuser unit in the printer is replaced, put the old fuser unit back in.
        If the error message goes away with the old fuser unit, please check that the new fuser unit is the correct one for this printer model. If you need the correct part number, contact the Lexmark Technical Support Center.
      2. If the printer has not recently had its fuser replaced, plug the printer directly into a wall outlet. Surge protectors and power strips can sometimes regulate the voltage to a fault for the printer. If the printer is already on a wall outlet, plugging the printer into a different outlet may solve the problem. Keep in mind that there is no need to have the printer connected to a computer during testing for a fuser error as any pages to test the functionality of the printer can be processed internally.
      3. If you have tried the printer on other wall outlets and the 925 Fuser Error still appears, the printer will require service to clear the message.
